salt baked shrimp

When I lived in Manhattan, one of my favorite things was the "salt baked shrimp" at a place called New York Noodletown in Chinatown. However, I don't think it is the usual preparation, which from my research seems to be where the shrimp is fried in its shell. Instead, these were huge shrimp WITHOUT the shell that were very moist and covered in a slightly salty fried light crust and served with jalapenos. Is there someplace in Chicago that serves something similar?
