Salsa v. Salmonella

Interesting piece in this week's Science News referring to a study done in UCBerkeley. A compound found in Cilantro called Dodecenal is apparently a better killer of Salmonella choleraesuis bacteria than even Gentamicin - which is what is used today to treat the illness. It says that this is why residents of Mexico don't develop salmonellosis often, even though visitors to the country do.

Happy Cilantro eating!
