Went over to Sakura a couple of weeks ago. Opened recently and it's one of those Chinese/Japanese all-you-can-eat buffets located in that troubled location on King St that has seen many restaurants come and go.
Wasn't expecting much but I was very pleasantly surprised. Large selection of interesting well prepared items. The food is set out in small quantities so each dish is always freshly made and replenished when necessary. None of the big silver vat-like chafing dishes where food sits for hours. Lunch: $9.99
There is a salad section with kimchee and seaweed salad. Four selections of soup including hot and sour, tom yum and a pumpkin soup. A few dim sum (dumpling) items. There is a large sushi selection, all again, freshly made by the onsite sushi chef. Many of the Chinese dishes, some of which are not what you'd expect like grilled heads on prawns on a skewer, tender grilled Japanese beef, lots of fresh steamed veggies, and seafood dishes like large shrimp and teriyaki salmon. Supposedly they have lobster at dinner. Verdict: So good that I've been back a couple of times already.
Anyway, I'd be interested in hearing your take on this place.
