Saini Sweet Shop (long)

eating out | Mar 9, 2004 07:51 PM

Just ate at Saini Sweet Shop tonight and ordered more than just the requisite veggie samosas.

I ordered the Saag Paneer, and my friends ordered the Chicken Jalfreezi(sp?) and the Aloo Chole.
The saag paneer was bland and mushy. Absolutely zero texture. I ordered it medium, and it definitely did have some kick to it. The cheese didn't really have any flavor. It wasn't terrible, but I wouldn't get it again.
The chicken jalfreezi was reported as being bland, and lacking any indication of being indian food.
The aloo chole, however, was reported as being pretty good, and she would order it again. But the potatoes were on the mushy side.
We also ordered some aloo paratha, and it was not very good. It was "terrible" as my friend Sarah put it.

The food was unremarkable, bland and mushy. We spent about 9 bucks each, and we did get waay more food than we could handle, 2 huge things of rice, and a free sauce that i'm not sure of the name.

Overall, I'd say stick with the excellent veggie samosas and the amazing chutney it comes with.
