We had a really terrific lunch at the new Saigon Restaurant today. I need to make this quick, so in brief-
Pork Fried Sandwich (Banh Mi) - Good version, nice freshness from the veggies, really well balanced with the chili, good bun to filling ratio (v. Kim's). The sort of thing, when you finish it, you really want another.
Beef Pho Special - dare I say, better than Thanh thanh?! The beef in all forms was tender and flavorful, the noodles tender, aromatic broth, excellent broth to noodle ratio IMHO.
"Huế" Rice Vermicelli with beef (F6) - beef broth with lemongrass and sate, sooooooo good, with thicker rice noodle, didn't seem to entirely match description - no pork feet or tendon - but I will ask for it next time. Again, great noodle to broth ratio, accompaniments included bean sprouts, mint, shaved celery.
Complimentary tea and soup starter, not sure what it was aside from tasty.
Good service. They open at 9am which I really appreciate because on weekends I want noodle soup nice and early to start the day!
i look forward to trying more dishes and hope this place works out.
