Made an impromptu stop at Saia's on the Lake last night, its in Bucktown where Carmine's used to be. Had never been there before. Was pleasantly surprised at the quality of the food. Menu is italian/seafood. Fried eggplant appetizer was light and had the perfect amount of lump crabmeat and hollendaise sauce as accompanyment. The redfish entree was quite fresh and well prepared. The wine list is what you would expect for a casual neighborhood place. (...I'm cursed... the better the wine I drink at home, the harder it is to be satisfied with wine in restaurants...) This is one big room with a service bar on the side, the tablecloths are plastic, the napkins are cloth. The service was attentive.
