the sad lack of good places to eat in Soho

Reading the post below about the French House made ponder the question of why it is that good food is so sadly lacking in Soho. If I'm mistaken, please, someone correct me - I'd love to know about some fantastic place that I've neglected to visit. Until I read the thread below I realised that it had been a very long time indeed since I'd dined on one of the streets that radiate out from Old Compton Street. The last fairly interesting meal I had was at St. Moritz, the Swiss place - one of the only places in London where a traditional fondue can be had. So please my chow friends, enlighten me - solve this Soho gastronomic cunundrum.
