Sacramento Art & Wine Festival

Bryan Harrell | Oct 12, 200411:47 AM

Apart from seeing the work of a two good photographers and a glass artist, this event held on Capitol Mall last weekend was a total waste of time.

The art: practically non-existent amidst the usual "craft faire" offerings. Some hilarious kitsch being sold with a straight face, though.

The wine: Two tents containing wine from large vintners and importers. Admission $20 per person, with no list of the actual wines served available. We were afraid of being served "their most popular wines" instead of interesting and unusual wines, so we passed.

The food: Ribs, burgers, sandwiches from a few vendors. Great for beer, maybe. Oh, and kettle popcorn and a few other snacks.

Fortunately, someone from Il Fornaio was handing out tickets for free bruschetta apps, so we went in for a light lunch and had a great time for less than $20 a person. See next post.

There was minimal turnout on Sunday. I doubt they'll get enough support to hold it again next year. If they do, they need to rethink the wine tasting system.
