So my boyfriend and I went to Palette for RW. We browsed through the extensive menu, but stuck to plan and ordered of the Restaurant Week list (very limited). The yellow tomato bisque was a stand-out dish, everything was just right. But my barbecue roasted chicken faltered in both it's texture and the gummy ketchup-based sauce that was baked on. Eff's 3oz. piece of steak was similarly unsatisfying. We had always heard of people who were still hungry after eating two course, but had never been on that side of it. It was actually very amusing.
How did we remedy the situation? Well, we ordered another dinner. This time off the stupid RW menu. We split the double-cut lamp chop with elephant garlic and bok-choy, with an additional side of applewood-smoked bacon creamed corn. This was the food we had come to Palette to try. The corn was the richest and most comforting dish you could imagine, and the lamb was sinful with it's crusty fatty edges and cool pink center. The funniest thing about it all. The dish was twice the portion size of the RW meal items.
The desserts were good, but the fact we had two such starkly different experiences in the same meal was very curious. Has anyone else noticed discrepancies in portion size?
