RW lunch--Tosca

Just had lunch at Tosca with two friends. Now this place seems to get the Restaurant Week concept right--the food was excellent, the portion size good, and the dishes interesting. For starters we had a choice of either an asparagus soup or a plate of roasted vegetables with roasted mozzarella with a basil oil topping (I had the latter since my friends both ordered the soup; I think the soup was the better dish). For the main the choices were a fettucine with a wonderfully tasty meat sauce, pork loin with mashed potatoes in a very nice winy sauce, or a roast sea bass (none of us had the fish, and all liked our choices). Dessert was ice cream, sorbet or granita with berries. We all had the granita, which was delightfully refreshing, though so cold that you run a real risk of terminal brain freeze. Service was very professional, and solicitous. No complaints at all. Bravo, Tosca!
