We are traveling from Wisconsin with lifetime friends and will be in the Russian River Valley for a full day and then up through Dry Creek Valley to Anderson Valley and are looking for some recommendations for wine and food. We LOVE unique wine tasting / food experiences and mostly enjoy SMALL production locations (off the beaten path) where you are more likely to talk w/ owner's and wine makers. My wife is a Pinot Noir fanatic and one of our friends drinks mostly white wine and so the best options would have both good red and white options. As for myself, I like them all depending on the occasion but have soft spot for a good zinfandel... While we will spend money for an exceptional wine, we appreciate very good wines at a sensible price point. Would look to do no more than 3-4 wineries in a day Would greatly appreciate knowledgeable suggestions in any of the appellations. Below are some initial ideas but would welcome additional suggestions or help pairing down options.
Day 1 - Russian River Valley (RRV)
Terrapin Creek Cafe - or - River's End (Coast - Dining)
Day 2 - Dry Creek (DCV)
J. Rickards (Alexander Valley)
Garden Creek (Alexander Valley)
Diavola (Dining - Geyserville)
Day 3 - Anderson Valley (AV)
Bewildered Pig (Philo - Dining)
