I had some time to kill over the weekend while I was car-less and getting an oil change in San Bruno (contain your excitement), and explored some of the businesses nearby. I noticed that at El Camino Real near Kains in a non-descript strip mall (anchored by Round Table Pizza) was a Russian bakery/deli and next door, the holy grail (for me anyway) - a Russian restaurant. It was called Russian Family, and it was empty but for one person at noon on Saturday. The prices couldn't be beat for Russian food - $6.95 and $7.95 (at lunch or dinner) for stroganoff, pelmeni, piroshki, and the like. (Compare that to $15 or more at Katia's, Fandorin, and Babushka.) Anyway, it'll probably be later rather than sooner when I try it because my boyfriend is Russian food-averse. I was wondering if anyone had tried it, or knew anything about it.
