rte 1 eats continued (san fran to LA)

hi, just wanted to add a few more things about what i ate on down from san fran to LA...so i arrived in sam simeon on saturday night, nothing too exciting there, then went to hearst castle sunday afternoon, where it was 102 degrees. you dont know how badly i wanted to jump in that neptune pool. anyway, after the tour, i left and stopped in cambria for olalieberry (sp) pie at linn's main bin. i had read about this place in my budget travel mag, and on the net somewhere. olalieberries are a cross between a blackberry and a european red raspberry. they make home made pie crusts and it was simply delicious. there's nothing like a homemade fruit pie imo. i had it straight up, no ice cream, so i could taste the berry. it wasnt quite a raspberry or a blackberry, but a good healthy mix.
so i gobbled my pie up rather slowly (the waiter thought i didnt like it, but i was just savoring it), then paid and was on my way. i was on a mission to eat chowder at dorn's in morro bay (which i had read about on this board - thanks everyone!). i really liked that lil town, wish i couldve stayed longer. i asked some local family man where dorn's was and i saw it looming in the distance. so i went up there, decided to have a seat outside (mind you, i was still full from the pie, which i had only eaten like 20 minutes ago). the service was terrible but very friendly, so i just had to accept being on california time, northern cali that is. the chowder was very delicious tho, and they served it w/ a whole loaf of sourdough bread...yummmy. it was just the right consistency, taking me back to my vacations in maine, where there's good clam chowder to be had everywhere. but i was soo full by the time i finished every last drop, i could hardly move. i guess i'm a wimp. but that's about it for route 1, at least the memorable meals...all i know is that i'm ready to go on the road again...
