Big yum! Dont miss this seasonal specialty. Linked below is my earlier post about Rosens cheesecakes. Interestingly, these seem to get more attention on the LA board than at home.
I picked up one at the J. M. Rosens Waterfront Grill counter for last weekends visitors. A small size ($20) was easily enough for 10 people after a big dinner. I just put it on a plate with a knife on the table along with the other desserts and cheese course to let them help themselves. I noticed that people would cut themselves a thin 1/2 slice, but then go back a couple times for more. I still had some leftover and have been polishing it off for breakfast each morning.
The texture and taste is somewhere in between a traditional pumpkin pie and the smooth medium dense style of Rosens cheesecakes. Unlike some of the other brands Ive tried, this one has a rich pumpkin and spice flavor and color, not just an accent.
The Rosens bakery in Petaluma isnt set up for retail trade, but you can buy the cakes at their restaurant. Select grocery stores can also order them for your holiday table.
