Rose Restaurant Redux

Jayask recently made a VERY negative post about this place in the old Stratford Motor Lodge in Falls Church City. Not only was Rose Restaurant a fave of mine, but has been a true mom and pop Chowhound-performing place with flavors not dumbed down for a larger audience. Did Mom and Pop sell out? Were there new owners?
Happily, this unique restaurant is still a HUGE star on the Chowhound map, and for those of you yet to discover it, I have the following to say:
This is a place to treasure, where son Joey calls into the Kitchen "Pop" for orders, and will make you feel like family. The flavors are strong, and it's true that a solo diner could walk away disappointed. Normally, I warn people not to over-order, but this is one place where you really need to order several dishes, so go with co-workers or someone you love. For starters, I have had success with the roasted garlic, the sour pickles, and the stuffed grape leaves. After that, the beef with eggplant stew (made with tomatoes, braised eggplant, split peas, dried lemons), and any kabob as a kind of crunchy neutralizer (Also, Naruda once told me to order "ta deg", which is the stuff at the bottom of the rice pot. Joey said it's best to call in about 30 minutes ahead for this so they can make sure and save it for you.) Wash it down with the cherry drink and the yogurt, and you have all the makings of a spectacular meal, one that might turn off the unsuspecting public, but should delight a Chowhound.
