Has anyone tried this recipe? I have promised to make a Red Velvet cake for a friend for her birthday, but I don't usually make them and don't have experience with any particular recipe. RLB's seems a little different, and may solve the dryness problem I usually associate with a red velvet cake. The cake is made in a single layer 9" round heart shaped pan (or regular 9"), so I would have to double it to make a regular birthday layer cake. However, the volume she states (8- 8 2/3 cups) seems large for a single layer. I'd love to hear from anyone who has made it, or failing that, from anyone who has a fail-safe red velvet cake recipe.
