Rome and Vernon

here are a couple places worth stopping at in these
towns and nearby areas

the Franklin Hotel on 301 South James St just below the main intersection of Erie Blvd and Black River Blvd within site of Fort Stanwix. havent tried it myself yet, but i keep hearing that it is very good Italian-American food here with low prices and large portions. it doesnt look like much on the outside, but it's a favorite spot for many.

La Roma Pizza 600 Floyd Ave Rome a good pizzeria in Rome. there are others, but i dont know the lowdown on them.

Eddie's Paramount Diner 414 W Dominick St a real old
fashioned greasy spoon stainless diner set back a little with the end facing the street.. painted red
the last time i was in there a couple years ago. basic
diner food. been around for ages.

Vernon area and the Casino

Mason Jar Diner it's right on Rte 5 in the village. a
family run diner with generally good food and a friendly atmosphere. good (but not great)coffee.
the home made desserts and pies are disappointing but
it's a good place overall. rustic interior.
there's a former sister operation called the Mini Mason Jar on Rte 365 near the casino at the intersection of Rte 31 that is no longer
connected to this one.

Turning Stone Casino Route 365 Oneida

Crystal's Diner a pretty good hamburger and ice cream diner in the casino. there is also a larger sit
down diner near the hotel desk.
i once overheard a local Chinese family saying the Chinese Restaurant in the casino is one of the best in this area, so it may be worth checking out also.
the Crystal Buffet (if they still have it) was a
dissapointment when i tried it twice over a period of time.
