My significant other and I have a "welcome summer" day planned that includes a showing of Cirque du Soleil (midday) and a late night concert. We want a special dinner place that swings away from typical fancy fare (i.e. bluehour/genoa/higgins) and perhaps towards a. slightly affordable and b. ethnic. I have heard mixed things about Plainfields Mayur and better things about Compass World Cafe (which leans away from the ethnic theme). Any other outdoor seeting dining locations in PDX that would be appropriate to attend sporting semi-formal/funky cloths? We'd prefer an E. side location, but it's not necessary.
Since I know it comes to mind, we aren't big Sweet Basil fans. Nice deck, okay food.
Also, anyone tried Sala? We loved the atmosphere of Il Piato, but found the food to be too bland.
