Robust Italian at Trattoria Vivolo, Harrison...

Stopped into Trattoria Vivolo in Harrison last night for dinner with a friend. It sits right across the street from the Harrison Metro-North station. Chef/owner Dean Vivolo is a wonderful host who serves vibrant Italian cuisine out of a charming vintage diner. It appears he has maintained the space beautifully. It glistens. Tuck into a booth, sit at the counter, or take a table in the rear greenhouse and dive into the food. We took a booth.
We started with a fresh Gorgonzola Salad to pique our palates, moved onto fresh Polenta with wild mushrooms, such a comforting dish this time of the year, and for the main course, we shared an order of Holiday Baccala, deftly prepared in a simmered tomato sauce with potatoes, olives and vegetables. Hearty it was, with no hint of saltiness. For dessert: a tasty portion of Linzer Torte. A festive ending. We paired the meal with a heady Italian cabernet. Friendly, efficient service. Will be back for more....www.trattoriavivolo.com
