Roast already sliced?

So I defrosted an elk eye of round roast that was given to us. After defrosting I discovered that it is already sliced in 1" thick pieces. I had planned on searing it and finishing it whole in the oven. Should I try to tie it up so it's one piece again, or just cook the pieces on the stove top?
