Roast or Grill a Sirloin Tip Roast

I am defrosting a piece of meat that is labled as a top sirloin tip roast. It is from the meat locker where we split part of a cow with some friends so I am never quite sure of the labeling. However, it is a large piece of meat and seems very similar to the tri-tip although slightly thicker, bigger. Should I roast or grill. I expect it needs to be marinated. Any tips?
