Stopped by River Walk in Riverhead for dinner. The venue used to be called Joe's Garage which had good barbecue when they first opened, but the menu went downhill and the food followed.

I had what was called Prime Rib, but it was really a boneless slice of Prime Rib, with Gravy Master or something similar product slathered onto it and then fried on a pan or griddle. It was cooked to the degree of done-ness as I requested, but extremely salty and and crusty on the outside, good for a steak but not Prime Rib. My wife enjoyed her turkey burger.

The room is acoustically hard with the ability to rattle noise off all of the hard surfaces. Since they play loud music, everyone is screaming to each other to be heard and it is impossible to have a quiet conversation. Discussing the dinner with a friend who recently ate there, he said that he refused to pay for his Prime Rib because it was so well done compared to how he ordered it.

The owner/manager came over and asked me how it was while I had a mouth full of meat.and I said it was OK just to get rid of him. There are not many good restaurants in town, so give it a try. Order something less ambitious the Prime Rib. Prices were fair.
