My wife and I are both Italians--she's from NY and I'm from Hoboken, NJ--and we went to RISTORANTE PEPPONE in West Los Angeles for our 2nd anniversary. It was our first time there and we were excited to enjoy some good Italian food and some nice Italian hospitality, but lo and behold we found below-average food at well-above average prices and the WORST service we've ever experienced. The high school students working at a McDonald's drive-thru are more cordial. Our waiter, a fixture in the restaurant, couldn't be bothered with our orders because he was busy schmoozing a table full of business executives wearing suspenders. I had to ask him for utensils/napkins/water and with each request he acted as if we asked him to help us move into a four story walk-up. These are things customers shouldn't have to ask for! And when I asked to see a dessert menu he thrust a finger in my face as if to say, "Wait!"
I complianed to the manager who gave me the owner's card and the next day I called Gianni Paoletti and relayed to him our saga. He yes'd me to death and never followed up.
