We hit RioMar tonight for a very early dinner.
I had the Garlic Soup, Frank had the mixed Tapas Platter (from which I mooched a few of the smaller items) for starters. From there we advanced to a HUGE order of Mussels - maybe 4 dozen or so - in a nice garlicky, olive-oily broth.
The entrees took some time to choose. It was hard to get him to pass on the Hanger Steak and a side of Mashed Potatoes, but after some wheedling, we shared the 2-pound whole Speckled Trout (Hmmmm...Speckled Trout. Well, that's what they called it anyway) an off the menu special, and a side of Saffron Rice. I am irresistable when I wheedle!
The fish was excellent: pan roasted and in something like an Olive Vinagrette.
We washed dinner down with a bottle of the ultra-dry Basque white wine with the unpronouncable name that sounds like 'Tchac-o-clock'. This is a great wine to have with the garlicky seafood dishes that RioMar specializes in.
We each finished with an Amontillado Sherry.
Stopped at PJ's for an Espresso before rolling around the corner an tumbling home.
