Rincon Limeno/Pollo a la Brasa el Chalan Sauce Question

Lizard | Jan 23, 2006 11:22 AM

I loooove the roasted peruvian chicken at Limeno and to a lesser extent, at al Chalan. My question....what is the amazing hot creamy green sauce they give you in tiny solo cups to accompany your meal at Limeno? I'm not sure they do it at Chalan, and I know other hounds have extolled the virtues of other peruvian rotisserie places )perhaps in Sommerville?) which may also serve the sauce. The very nice woman behind the counter just calls it salsa verde and could not give me an ingredient list. But it does not strike me as the "salsa verde" I'm accustomed to. That is to say, I do not believe there are onions, or tomatoes or tomatillos in it. I'm not sure if this belongs on homecooking or not, so if it does, I apologize. I thought it could belong here as it's a question about a condiment served in a Boston restaurant. Can anyone be of assistance? Could it be aji? I don't detect any cilantro.
