I didn't really appreciate the attention to the coffee selection until I started writing this.
Point Isabel, as most dog lovers must know, is THE top doggy destination in the East Bay. It is one of the few places dogs are allowed off leash. Attached to the cafe ... or visa versa ... is Mudpuppy's Tub & Scrub where you can wash your doggy after they've enjoyed a romp on the green hills, beach and various mud holes.
The place on a sunny Sunday had more dogs than I've seen in a long time.
Catahoula, a new-ish coffee brewer in Richmond that I like, named the company partly after the breed of his dog Lola. Nice touch for this doggy wonderland.
Actually the cafe seems better than what one would expect from a regional park. Semifreddi's pastries are served and there are a few sandwiches, a daily soup, chili, bagels, breakfast sandwiches and ... of course ... hot dogs. Here's the menu (pdf format)
There's a gumball type of dispenser with chicken and oat dog snacks.
I just had a cup of the decaf Sumatra and it was very nice.
There are some picnic tables near the cafe and a swell view of the bay and Golden Gate bridge ... and a little of the Bay Bridge. And there are dogs ... lots and lots ... and lots ... of dogs
