had a really lovely dinner at rialto last night. it was our first time there and the experience convinced us that we must return--in other words, it did exactly what restaurant week meals should do!
chilled corn soup
beef tenderloin with vegetables and mashed potatoes
the beef in particular was great--a perfect, tender piece of beef with light, springy veggies to complement it. we really enjoyed everything, though. the dishes were more interesting than my summary above suggests--the lasagna came with a great sauce that included pistachios, for example. the service was fine but not top-notch--we waited half an hour for our table, the dishes arrived too quickly after the previous had been cleared, and the waitress was not terribly smooth when she checked my id (if you're making sure people are legal, be sure to be able to subtract 21 from 2005). all things we were willing to chalk up to the restaurant week frenzy, however. and the food definitely outshined the small service imperfections.
