Review of Tasca Brava in Cary, NC

SK | Apr 23, 2003 12:14 PM

My wife and I made a long drive (1 hour long)to Cary to taste tapas at Tasca Brava yesterday. I had read a favorable review at and wanted to give a try. I had tasted good tapas in Washington, DC area before like Jaleo, so I was looking forward to good tortilla espanola and such goodies.

I tried several items on the menu and all of them tasted pretty awful. Calamari salad had a bad canned smell for the calamari probably came out of can along with green beans. Tortila espanola was a disappointment as well.

Just because the cafe is located in the rich neighborhood in Cary, the owner should not charge food too much, but after 4 tapas and a couple of drinks came out to about $46 before tipping.

I am not sure how others on this message boards feel about Tasca Brava's food, but I strongly recommend against it. When I walked in to the restaurant, there were about dozen Spanish class students trying their best high school spanish with the waiter. That should be the sign I should say "adios." But I stayed. My mistake.
