Review of 3 West-longish

I took a friend of mine to 3 West last Friday and now I realize why this is probably my favorite restaurant. When I made the reservation a few weeks ago I requested a booth-which we got but I never mentioned that we were coming for a birthday. When we arrived I still didn't mention the birthday. Our server was very astute (she noticed the wrapped birthday gift on the table) and at the end of our meal she brought my friend some ice cream, cookies and a candle. The cookies were so good that I asked for a few additional to take home and she didn't charge me. Now back to my meal. I ordered mussels as an appetizer and they were tender, juicy, delicious and plentiful. My friend ordered the lobster salad that he said was unbelievable. For our main course I ordered the roasted chicken breast over lentils that was also amazing. I normally order fish, but was in the mood for chicken that night. The meat was tender and juicy. My friend ordered the herb crusted lamb chops. I had to stop him from licking the plate. It was enough that he sucked the meat off of the bone. I have to say that I've been to 3 West about 6-7 times now and each time gets better. But it's not only the food, it's also the service. The servers are attentive but they never rush us. I also love the atmosphere there, especially in the winter with the fireplace roaring. It's a beautiful place and superb food. Price for our dinner not including tip was $97. We each had an appetizer, one drink each and dinner. Not cheap but worth every penny. I highly recommend this place and look forward to my return.
