Though I like Floating Rock and Kelly's, there are other local places that merit a trip. Here are some of my favorites:
El Madina: This is a middle eastern place (and general middle east grocery store) at 148 Squire Road, Revere, near the shopping mall. Great falafel and lots of cheap vegetarian options. (Meat too.)
D'Parma: A really great Italian place in Winthrop, with good pasta and risotto, plus atmosphere. On 467 Shirley St. Helps me miss the Pastaman less, which recently closed, despite its great success.
Rincon Limeno: 409 Chelsea St in East Boston. This Peruvian place was mentioned before by some chowhounds. I love the Jalea; lots of fried seafood - more volume than Kelley's.
Belle Isle Seafood: 1267 Saratoga St. in East Boston. You pick the fish, they cook it the way you want. Prices are good and the fish is great.
Cafe Costa del Sol: 366 Broadway in Revere. Salvodorian place. They have a great breakfast with beans, plaintains, eggs, etc. for pretty cheap.
Twist and Shake: 82 Revere Beach Blvd. An incredible ice cream and frozen yogurt place on Revere Beach. Much better than Kell's Cream. They are open from April - October; the Purple Cow frozen yogurt and coconut ice cream are terrific.
Those are my picks.
I'm just craving Indian and Thai in the area - Does anyone have ideas closeby (East Boston, Revere, Winthrop, Lynn)?
