Just returned from three weeks on Kauai. Suffering from separation anxiety, but trying to survive!
The restaurants that we enjoyed the most were:
1) A Pacific Cafe: excellent food and service, except for the bartender that did not know how to properly open a bottle of champagne. Ask for Alex for your waiter. 2) Aussie Tim's Texas BBQ: Try the Burnt Ends Chili- thick with meat served over rice. Very filling.
Small size perfect to share as an appetizer. Also try the pecan pie. 3)The Bull Shed. No frills steak and lobster. Small but fresh salad bar. We also enjoyed the Silverado Cab - good prices. 4) Hanalei Pizza: Best pizza we tried on the island. 5) The Beach Hut
Good Breakfast for small price. 6) Waimea Pizza and Deli: Good pizza 7)Waimea Bakery: Good Oatmeal Cookies 8) Maria's Mexican: Good food- wished they served Margaritas.
The restaurants we didn't like were: 1)Hula Girl - terrible service with attitude and so so food
2)Aloha Pizza - same as above
(supposed to be voted best of on the island but I want to know who voted) bad attitude, so so food and no straws for your drink. 3) Bubba's burgers - again so so food but nice people. Doesn't live up to their hype.
FYI-The concierge at our hotel told us to AVOID The Beach House. We had a bad experience at Roy's on our previous trip, so we did not go back.
