I'm going for a 2 week trip to Mexico soon (yay), and the plan right now is to spend 4 or 5 days in Mexico City, then down to Oaxaca, down to the coast, up through Chiapas on the way to Palenque. Needless to see, eating will be one of the major highlights.
I imagine that in Oaxaca and the other cities in the area a lot of the best (and most chowhoundy) food is available on the street, at markets, squares, etc. Any unique goodies that are worth specifically looking out for?
Or does anyone have any favorite restaurants that I should make a special point of visiting on my trip? (Especially in Mexico City)
