In this day and age it baffles me how a restaurant, especially a decent place can have a lousy beer selection. The other night I ate @ Gonzo (NYC) and their entire list was Anheuser Busch products. Michelob Carbo light, Red Hook, Bare Knuckle stout. Including the bottle selection. This isn't a lousy place, so why such a shitty list? If I'm gonna spend $25.00 a pop why wouldn't I spend another buck or two on a decent beer? They don't have to have a list the size of Montana, just 1 or 2 decent brews. Hell, the Ho Jo Lounge on Times Square (where last night the amazing Finnish surf band Laika and the Cosmonauts held court) had Sam Adams, a decent but not great beer. The Ho Jo Lounge is not a classy place by any means, but they had a drinkable beer. Gonzo had none. Do the guys from St Louis pay them off, do they give them such a deal that they cant't say no? Does Gonzo not know where to go to get some decent beers or have the localdistributors fallen down on the job?
