Thanks to all who helped me in planning our meal choices while our family was recently in NYC. Here are a few reviews of where we ate:
Balthazar: great atmosphere. Arrived early on a Sunday (before the brunch started), so the petite menu did not include many choices(much to my husband's dismay). The rest of us had delicious oatmeal and pasties though. We enjoyed it.
Home: The most disappointing (and expensive) meal of our stay. The cod special was lukewarm on the outside. My husband did not care for the seasoning on the pork chop entree, nor the barbeque sauce. Unfortunately, the worst part was the service. The waiter seemed to be condescending and rather snooty.
The kids liked the mac and cheese, though. Overpriced, too.
Angus McIndoe: This place was excellent! The meal, while not fancy- chicken wraps, hamburgers and fries, dessert-was like a delicious homecooked meal. Comfortable is an adjective that seems to fit this restaurant. The service was wonderful; our waiter was so friendly. Very reasonably priced. I highly recommend it.
The Cupping Room: We had breakfast here on our last day. The restaurant's atmosphere is delightful. The meal was so filling and delicious. Bacon, eggs,(Dad was happy) stuffed waffles were the best I have ever had. The service was impeccable as well. Very reasonably priced for the portions and service.
Thanks again for letting me read chowhound for NYC restaurant choices before we left. It really helped! We had a ball and hopefully will return someday. Happy New Year everyone!
