Recently went here for dinner and WHAT A TREAT!!! Those looking for boring French food need to head over to Thomas Henkelman. Those looking for perfectly cooked food with amazingly fresh marriages of combinations taken to the next level need to go to JL. Sure you can get old favorites like Foie Gras (even these seemed to have fresh approaches to its preparations, like the terrine or even better the slivers floating in an amazingly rich consumee) but it was dishes like the stuffed morels accompanied w/white asparagus, sautéed leeks and, yes, topped w/a sliver of foie gras. OMG this dish was gastronomic delight. My wife had the perfectly cooked beef while I had the stuffed quail. Neither dish cold have been better. Sorry to gush, but I have to admit, I was blown away by how good this all was. And even better was getting the bill. I have eaten at all the "top" places in Greenwich and I can say WITHOUT hesitation, that our bill (I do not understand the wine list pricing?!? When you consider places like Gaia around the corner have mark ups in the 200%+++ range, JL list seemed to have an amazing choice of lower priced, and MUCH MUCH higher priced wines, but at what seemed to be an absurdly low mark up...50%ish???) was lower than all and the food quality was better. Kudos to Restaurant Jean Louis!!! Next time I want expertly prepared food while not getting my eyeballs ripped out like alot of other Greenwich restaurants do, I am running back to Jean Louis!
