I had dinner at Restaurant L last night. Why have a I never seen it mentioned on this board??? Everything was amazing.
For Rest. Wk., they had four choices each of appetizers, entrees, and deserts. (I have only seen 2 or sometimes 3 choices in the past at other places). Can't remember what we didn't order, but my Dining Companion (DC) and I had an avocado/calamari item and fluke sashimi to start. The calamari was perfectly lightly dipped and fried and worked very well with the avocado base they put it on. The fluke had something really great going on, but I could not tell what it was. DC thought maybe there was a vodka element.
The entrees we choose were the "pork milanese" (I think it was called) and a salmon somethingorother. The pork was perfectly prepared and work well with the delicious sauce. The salmon was good, with a miso crust I think? Can't remember, because when I tried it, I was like "Yeah, OK, this is a good piece of fish, well prepared and flaky, but so what?" BUT THEN, I tried it with the marinated onions that were served on top, and YOW that made all the difference! Fantastic!
My desert was described as kind of a mix between a boston cream pie and a tiramisu, but it far exceeded either of those. DC had the pana cotta, which she loved, but I was not nuts about it. She wasn't crazy about my cream pie either, so we're even.
Anyway, that was kind of long to write, but I wrote it because I am baffled as to why this place is never mentioned on chowhounds. Service was well-timed and friendly.
