Last respects: Demon Dogs

HungryHoward | Feb 19, 200302:58 PM

As widely reported, it appears that Demon Dogs will be closing its doors for good come Feb. 28. The CTA needs to expand the Fullerton station and this 20+ year-old hot dog stand is in the city's way.

While their dogs left something to be desired, the french fries were first-rate. When I used to take the red line to/from Fullerton, those fries served as a dinner too many times. Despite double bagging the fries, the grease would still come through.

And the place had character to boot. From the countless platinum and gold records secured by Chicago (owner, Pete Schivarelli, was the band's former manager) to the outside picnic tables that sat in between Fullerton and a parking lot.

I'll be paying my last respects this weekend.
