My wife and I were looking for someplace to have lunch today, and drove by this place on the way to somewhere else. Although I'm used to seeing mostly Latin and some Korean restaurants (and of course the famouse Thai Racha!) along Long Point, there are several Asian places as well.
This place was in a small strip center off Long Point. Very plain decor, and the waitress did not speak English (a very good sign in my book).
We started with the grilled pork spring rolls. These were very good, obviously fresh, and the peanut sauce was good as well. Hard to impress with this dish, as its pretty standard, but they were as good as I've had elsewhere.
I ordered Pho Tai, and it was exceptionally good! There was plenty of good quality meat, and the top of the soup was dappled with "fat" spots. It wasn't overly fatty soup by any stretch, but the broth was much richer and meatier than many other Pho I've had elsewhere. Also, the soup was served with a HEAPING plate of cilantro which is my favorite addition to pho.
My wife ordered the Bo Luc Lac, and it was also very good. Large tender beef chunks with great veggies and big chunks of garlic. Very, very good stuff.
Bottom line, four thumbs up from me and the Mrs. If you're in the area and in the mood for Vietnamese, give it a try and let me know what you think!
