Renee's (Woodside Filipino) -- I LOVED the seafood Kare-kare!

Brian S | Sep 23, 2005 01:16 PM

After I posted my long review of Renee's Filipino restaurant (see link below), a veteran chowhound wrote in to say that the seafood kara-kare was awful. I persuaded him to go back and try another dish, he did, and loved it. But since I posted the review I still felt responsible, so I went back and tried the seafood kare-kare. I thought it was superb! Although a more accurate name for that toothsome dish would be "Perfectly cooked crunchy vegetables including green beans, okra and eggplant served in a delicious peanut sauce that tastes like freshly made peanut butter but not as thick or as sweet, with a few pieces of top quality seafood thrown in, including three huge shrimp, head and all"   But their name is more catchy, I guess. Also easier to remember.
