Do you remember La Crepe/Creperie on 56th Street?

It was part of a chain owned by a french woman, who then franchised it. Her daughter has now opened an upscale French restaurant in Greenport LI called Ile de Beaute which has an authentic French Menu, but more importantly, over 100 kinds of crepes on the menu, expertly prepared.

We ate there on Saturday; It is in a beautifully restored old house with warmth and fireplaces. I had a terrific goat cheese salad, ok tuna steak and a fabulous dessert crepe. My husband (who is from the Italian/French border) had three different crepes and said they reminded him of home.

A little pricey for Greenport, but the crepes themselves are reasonable. We met and spoke with the owner, whose mother is now in her 70's but still works in the kitchen occasionally and has actually taught the staff to make crepes.

Give it a try. Any suggestions for good crepes in the City?
