Relative Expense of Various Asian Cuisines

JB | Jan 19, 2005 04:39 PM

Here is a question that has long plagued me. Why do certain cuisines (e.g. Japanese, Korean) seem consistently and significantly more expensive when dining out than others (e.g. Vietnamese, Thai). I understand that the nature of sushi gives it a higher price but sushi is only one component of Japanese cuisine and my experience has been that it is pricey across the board.

Does anyone know the reason?
