Regina's

Stopped in at the Thatcher location last night while getting a dose of the whole DNC thing and had to say the pepperoni and sausage pie was amazing as usual. Slight bit of burn to the crust as usual, the ends of which were used to apply that delicious crushed red pepper infused oil to my gullet.

Also, in connection with this, I was forwarded this email. I don't know if it really came from Maura, but the people at Regina's (no line last night!) and Porter's on Portland St. both said that business is indeed way down. Try and stop by if you can.

No one was really around - the so called "protester's pen" had about 20 people in it and foot traffic was fairly minimal. As a majority of convention goers are dining on catered meals, local businesses are suffering.

Dear Friend,
I just wanted to send you a quick note to let you know that I was down in the North End last night because I heard business and foot traffic was considerably off due to the convention. While there I visited many local merchants and sat down to a delicious dinner and desert. I can tell you from first hand experience that the hype surrounding the convention has caused many people to steer clear of the downtown area which is having a devastating effect on local merchants.
I am contacting you in hopes that you will please consider going down to the North End, Back Bay, Beacon Hill, South End, or West End for dinner or other purposes as it would certainly be a huge help to the many struggling merchants. Although the expressways are closed from the late afternoon to the late evening, there are many alternative routes that you could use to get to these destinations that are easily accessible.
Thank you for supporting our city. Lets continue to make Boston a great place to live, work and enjoy.
With warmest regards,
Maura A. Hennigan
