Red Tomato House Taiwanese Deli

Chandavkl | Apr 15, 200506:18 PM

For those of you who remember Jungle Tea House, a teenage boba hangout in Hacienda Heights at 17550 Colima Road, you'll be interested to know that the location is now Red Tomato House, a Taiwanese Deli, and populated now by adults. Their specialty seems to be Taiwanese sausage, one of several of their menu items that they also sell frozen to go. The menu is mostly appetizers and rice plates, with a scoop of ground meat gravy covering each portion of rice. It also carries a good selection of drinks, as well as shaved ice with condensed milk in several fruit flavors. One problem arises from the fact that converting a boba place into a restaurant leaves things a little cramped. Half of the cooking takes place behind the counter, rather than in the kitchen, and it's a little disconcerting watching everybody trying to navigate in such close quarters. But the food is pretty good and they seem to be doing quite a bit of business.
