Red Mill

I am sorry to say that we finally gave Red Mill a try, and found it mediocre at best. Far better than the dreaded Dick's, but not nearly as good as Kidd Valley.

I liked the oddball burgers as a matter of principle (bleu cheese burger, green pepper burger, ...), but none of them really made me say "Ohmigod! We *have* to come back!!" And the onion rings, despite all the hype, did not seem NEARLY as good as KV's. I did love the shakes though. But with their similarity to McDonald's/generic soft-serve in a cup, I can imagine they wouldn't even pass first muster with a lot of Chowhounds.

We were at the original (Phinney Ridge) branch, overlooking the actual "red mill". Incidentally, I also thought the place seemed too "new"...I was expecting something seedy a la LA drive-thru or Coney Island beachfront stand. Doesn't Seattle have anything like this? We also went to Alki today (another first), and I was a little letdown to final nothing of that spirit over there either.

Nick's Roast Beef...Beverly, MA...that was the last "find" that had us moaning orgasmically for a month. Went back 8 or 9 times the first WEEK alone. Made us swear off Kelly's of Revere (*THE* Kelly's) once and for all...which in Boston is like voting out a Kennedy....

Please, if anyone knows anything of that calibre out here (even Kelly's level), I'd love to hear of it. Red Mill TWARN'T !!
