At a recent stay in Red Hook I had one of the most disappointing (and expensive) meals I have had in recent memory. I had stayed at the Red Hook Inn a couple of years ago when the then chef was introducing a new menu which was fantastic. The 2 meals I had there were outstanding and memorable, cooked to perfection. I chose to stay there last week while in town on business. Apparently, the Inn has new owners (who were out of town) and a new chef. The name of the restaurant part is now, Roasted Garlic. I had the seared Tuna which was good, not outstanding, the cous-cous was bland and dry, and the vegetables (carrots and cauliflower...oh, come on) were plain and tasteless. The other diner had Duck L'Orange which was awful, two out of two of us didn't like it at all. No orange taste and so full of Rosemary and Thyme the herbs overwhelmed everything else. The same sides, so all was a waste. Dinner for two (with tip) was $70 so very not worth it. I will think long and hard before I try the place again. Has anyone else out there tried the Red Hook Inn/Roasted Garlic?
