Thanks to everyone (particularly N.Tocus and A.Zabor) for the Red Apple recommendation. I posted a query several months ago about Chi Polish recommendations and FINALLY got around to trying their buffet last night.
Man was it good! I see myself going back at least once a week. Or whenever I dine without the vegetarian girlfriend. Not many choices for her, I'm afraid, although they do have a small salad bar with the buffet, and of course the non-meat pierogies and potato pancakes. I had to laugh, because the only veg dish at the regular buffet was this zucchini that was completely encased in some sort of organ meat.
However, I was all about the meat last night as I ate swine, duck, pork, beef, lamb and chicken. My plate felt like a Noah's Ark of delicious dead things and I simply couldn't allow the vegetables to take up valuable space. All the meats were delicious, but the short ribs were my favorite.
Round 2 was the starches. I tried the potato pancakes, the pierogies and these doughy things that look like long spaetzel. All were delicious.
Unfortunately, I couldn't pull off round three so I'll have to save the sweets for next time. Aside from the sweets at the buffet, ice cream also comes with the buffet, so I'll be sure to save a little room next time.
I was amazed when my check arrived and totaled just over $7 with tax.
