Recommendations for New Years

gt_pdh | Oct 26, 2004 02:16 PM

Ok so I know this seems way, way too early but some friends and I are planning to do New Years in DC and was plan on doing a nice dinner that night and then just hit the bars. One of my buddies thought Morton's but if I'm in a new city I'm not about to goto a place where I can go in any other city.

So basically I'm looking for recommendations. Some place where a group of about 4-8 people can sit down and have a nice meal $30-$50 per person not counting wine. A place where I can find something interesting, which to me is say along the lines of Stuffed Pigs Head (I eat anything), and yet can get a quality steak or shank of lamb for those who are less adventurous in their eating. I'm thinking French but since I've never really been to DC, I'm not sure what it has to offer along this line. Other options would just be DC institutions (places where you have to eat while in DC).

As for location we're staying pretty close to the hill so preferably not too far (<10-20 minute cab ride)

Thanks in advance for the help.
