My boyfriend and I are spending a week in Puerto Rico at the beginning of March. While we're staying in San Juan, we're also renting a car so that we can explore the island.
There are many fabulous recommendations already for San Juan, and I'll be sure to keep those in mind while planning. Pikayo and Ajili Mojili look great, as do all the suggestions for roadside fare. I know there was a recent post on this, and I've taken my notes. But, if there have been any amendments since then..
I was also wondering about the rest of the island. While our plans are very vague, so far, I know that we plan on going over to Vieques for a day, and will probably drive down to the south a couple of times, as well as perhaps exploring Rincon for the surfing (thanks to a recent NYTimes article which piqued our interest). Thusly, recommendations for lunch/dinner/snacks/drinks virtually anywhere on the island would be very welcome.. as well as activities enjoyed.
As for food - both of us are rather adventureous, and will eat just about anything. There are really no price limits, either - we'll probably splurge on a couple of meals, and try to keep everything else reasonable. Non-touristy sites are preferred, of course.
I know this is on the vaguer side.. but, we're open to everything. Part of the fun of vacationing is exploring and encountering the unexpected, which we fully plan on doing.
Thanks in advance!
