My boyfriend and I live in NYC and are heading out to LA, Laguna Beach and Idyllwild at the end of the month and I was looking for recommendations.
in Laguna Beach: something around $100 for the two of us for dinner, preferably not French or Italian and definitely not Japanese. Good wine list is non-negotiable, nice view of the beach would be great.
Also, any thoughts on a good, casual place for lunch? Are there any "don't miss" culinary destinations in the area I need to know about?
Idyllwild: am visiting family, know nothing about the area and am wondering if anyone knows anything about a cute place to take my brother and sister in law out for lunch or dinner. General question, I know, but I would imagine the area doesn't have a ton of options.
As for LA, my focus is squarely on Mexican. Traditional, no nuevo latino BS. We'll be staying in Hancock Park--anything to recommend around there? Finally, I read the postings on Lucques/AOC and I am of course intrigued by both. Is AOC kind of the cheaper "bridge line" version of Lucques or are they two completely different concepts?
Many many thanks.
