Greetings from a Washington DC 'hound. My wife and I are visiting Montreal for the first time next weekend, Friday-Monday. I've just begun to work my way through this board, but also thought I'd throw out the dreaded general "where should we eat?" question.

When we visit cities, we walk a lot, try to take every mode of public transportation, and generally do a lot of hanging out and possibly shopping; we're not a "sightseeing" couple as far as specific sights.

We eat everything. Prices not really an issue. Especially enamored of what most Hound boards call "ethnic" but also feel strongly about sampling local specials/traditions/faves.

We're staying in the Hotel Gault in Old Montreal. Will happily go anywhere for food - it's all about the food.

So.....we get three lunches and three dinners, plus the mid-day coffee/snacks. I assume we'll be all over town.

If you found yourself in this situation, where would you go, what neighborhoods would you especially hang around in, where would you try to eat?

Thanks so much for your help, I promise to also do my bit and review a few weeks of this board, and of course I'll report back!
